Louis Vuitton designer Virgil Abloh dies by Reuters
PARIS (Reuters) – Virgil Abloh, the top-notch black fashion designer and creative mind behind menswear collection Louis Vuitton, died on Sunday of cancer, Vuitton owner LVMH said.
Abloh, 41, has been privately battling cancer for years, LVMH said.
“Virgil was not only a genius designer, but also a man of beautiful spirit and great wisdom,” Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s billionaire president, said in a statement.
Abloh, a US citizen who also works as a DJ and visual artist, has been the men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton since March 2018.
In July of this year, LVMH expanded its role, giving it a mandate to launch new brands and partner with existing brands in a variety of sectors other than fashion.
